ART STATEMENT 2010-2013
This was the beginning of painting in abstract form. Painting abstracts allowed me to get out of the black and white style throughout the early 2000s. My collectors were excited to see me venture out into something new. The 2010s in Shanghai was a dynamic decade, full of optimism and China was starting to open more to the world. This inspired and coincided with much of the change of direction of my art style. China’s city fireworks, bright festivals, and traditional Chinese paintings were awe-inspiring. This artwork also had much to do with my interest in nature, particularly the cosmos.
